Corrie star support

Sally Ann Matthews, who stars in Coronation Street, has run 50 5K runs for Action Against Cancer to celebrate her 50th birthday. Go Sally Ann! She gives us an exclusive mini-interview about her challenge.

What was the best bit of your challenge?

By far my favourite run was run #48 in Paris. We were there to celebrate my son's 21st and running along the Seine was magical.

What was the hardest bit?

Coming back after injury was really tough. I lost my confidence and so started to run with a partner in Manchester and needed company for the runs I did at home. I found it at Park Run which was wonderful and something I will absolutely continue with.

What was it like to meet Her Majesty the Queen during the year of your challenge?

The Queen’s visit was in incredible! The sun was shining and it was an opportunity for everyone to come back together again. We had increased testing and the majority of people were outside. It was such a moral boost as we hadn't seen many of colleagues for 16 months. Her Majesty was so engaged and looked on fine form. A day to remember for sure.

What will you do with the extra time you'll have now that you've finished your challenge?

I'm definitely going to have to find a new challenge as I don’t want to stop running. I think I'm going to start training for a 10k run but might have a little rest first!

Thank you so much Sally Ann
