Message from our Chairwoman - Hilary Craft BEM FRSA
Over the last fifteen years I have suffered with breast cancer and leukaemia and in 2009 I was diagnosed with lung cancer and metastatic breast cancer. Sometimes I curse my luck, but I nevertheless feel very fortunate that modern cancer treatments have kept me alive and enjoying life. Treatments have improved significantly, but with 150,000 people losing their lives to cancer each year in the UK alone, there is clearly so much more to do.
Action Against Cancer is determined to help improve the survival prospects and quality of life for cancer sufferers. We are doing this by supporting the best of the best – a team at Imperial College, Hammersmith Hospital, led by Professor Justin Stebbing. Professor Stebbing is a leading light in the development of new cancer diagnostics and treatments and his team are making groundbreaking advances that will bring hope to millions of cancer sufferers worldwide. We are proud to be supporting this lifesaving work.
The charity is run extremely efficiently and is low on overheads and bureaucracy, meaning that our supporters know that their donations and the funds they raise go to what really matters – developing cures for cancer.
I greatly appreciate the generous contributions of our patrons, donors and fundraisers. If you would like to follow their lead and support Action Against Cancer please make a donation or fundraise for the charity and do your bit to help to save lives.
Together we can take action against cancer.
Many thanks and much love
