WOMAC event raises £20,000!

At a fantastic evening at BAFTA in Piccadilly, Women On The Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) raised £20,000 for Action Against Cancer. WOMAC, a fundraising committee comprising of leading lights from the motor industry, has raised £800,000 for charities and hospices. Action Against Cancer were delighted to be chosen as their selected charity for 2012.

Over 200 guests gathered at the venue to wine, dine, socialise and win some fantastic prizes. Both tombola and raffle stalls offered an array of prizes from pens and watches to driving experiences, hampers and even a walking break in the Lake District!

Action Against Cancer were presented with a cheque for £15,000 on the night and have subsequently been presented with a further cheque for £5,000. The £20,000 raised will be used to purchase a cutting edge 'Lightcycler' gene analysis machine for the team at Imperial College, Hammersmith Hospital. The machine will allow Professor Stebbing and his team to better understand the causes of cancer and develop improved treatments as a result.

A huge thank you to Janet and the rest of the WOMAC committee for such a wonderful evening which was enjoyed by all.
